Get ready to dance, have fun, and make a difference! The next dance fitness charity fundraiser is just around the corner, taking place on Sunday, May 18th. This exciting event not only promises a fantastic workout but also offers an amazing opportunity for community members to come together and support a worthy cause. The big question on everyone’s mind is: Which local charity will be the star of the show this time?

If you've participated in my previous fundraisers, you know how impactful and enjoyable they can be. We’ve danced for wonderful organizations like Breast Cancer Now, The Trussell Trust, and the British Red Cross in Ukraine. We've also supported Spiral Brighton, Dementia UK, Sussex Hospices, and Xtra Time. Each event raised vital funds and created a lively atmosphere that kept everyone smiling. For instance, our last Zumba event helped raise over £2,000, significantly contributing to these charities and enabling them to continue their essential work.

Let’s explore why this fundraiser is crucial and how you can take part in supporting your chosen charity.

What is Zumba, Zumba Gold & BollyX?

Zumba is more than just a fitness class; it's a global phenomenon that brings joy, movement, and community together in a fun package. With uplifting Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow choreography, Zumba helps you burn calories while having a blast. On average, a one-hour Zumba or BollyX class can burn around 500 calories, making it a fantastic workout option.

Zumba Gold, on the other hand, caters specifically to the active older adult or anyone who needs a gentler approach. This version keeps the fun of Zumba while being easier on the knees, allowing participants to move at their own pace. It's an excellent way for everyone, regardless of fitness level, to get involved in a supportive environment.

Why Support Local Charities?

Supporting local charities through our dance fitness fundraiser is an excellent way to make a real difference in our community. Local organisations rely heavily on donations to maintain their operations. For example, according to research, up to 60% of local charities struggle to secure funding without community support. By attending this event, we're not just exercising; we’re expressing our commitment to shaping a better future for those around us.

Donations raised can fund vital programs that address pressing concerns, from health initiatives to educational support. By participating, you empower local charities to continue their important work. Your energy while dancing can translate into vital resources for those in need!

Previous Charities Supported

Taking a look back at past fundraisers helps guide our choices moving forward. Over the years, we've shimmied and grooved for several impactful charities:

  1. Breast Cancer Now: Funds raised directly support vital research to stop breast cancer.

  2. The Trussell Trust: Donations aid food banks, helping families facing crises. In 2022, food banks supported over 1.5 million people. We donated to the local branch.

  3. British Red Cross in Ukraine: Providing critical emergency assistance during conflicts.

  4. Spiral Brighton: Focused on support and inclusion for the adults with learning disabilities community.

  5. Dementia UK: Offers expert support to families navigating dementia. We donated to their local branch.

  6. Xtra Time: Engages adults with learning disabilities through various activities.

  7. Friends Sussex Hospices: raising funds for 12 hospices across the county

Each organisation has a meaningful mission, aligning with our goal to create joy while contributing to a greater cause.

What’s New for the Upcoming Event?

For our next event, i want to hear from you! Which local charity resonates with you this time? It could be one you've supported before, or perhaps a new cause that has recently caught your attention.

Every dance fundraiser is aimed at raising funds for the chosen charity, emphasising the importance of your voice in this process. I encourage everyone to suggest local charities that reflect your values and community priorities.
